Summer fun for youngsters in West Cornforth

This summer, up to 150 children and young people in West Cornforth will be enjoying a range of fun activities, all made possible by the West Cornforth Summer Programme.

Funded through our community grant, Cash4Kids, and in partnership with Durham County Council's 'Fun and Food' initiative, the programme will run throughout the school holidays offering four-hour sessions filled with activities including sports, crafts, and games. Each child also receives a free meal, helping to support working families and ease the pressure during the summer break.

Tony Cutmore, Cornforth Partnership Chief Executive Officer said: “The need for children’s activities and support in the village is critical, we always strive to provide support and services to families during times when it is needed most, working with families, children and young people throughout the year we are able to ensure we provide meaningful services that meets their needs. The engagement numbers at sessions speak for themselves”

Julie O’Connor, Community Regeneration Adviser said: “Programmes like these highlight the need for services that support working families during the school holidays. One of the parents shared with me how they have helped her carry on working through the holidays”
